5 Stars Thiner, Stronger, Younger …Happy!
Well, I wasn’t too fat. But after three years of being away from the dojo or the gym and having frequent bussiness meals on fancy restaurants, one day I woke up with 20 pounds of extra fat. By that time, dieting seemed to be my only option, and I took it. But what was the result? …20 MORE POUNDS!!! Besides, I noticed that my physical condition and performance were going down, to the point of getting tired only for using the stairs.
So one Day I decided to take my 40 extra pounds for a walk while I was visiting Edinburgh, and I found the Paul McKennas’s 90 Days Success Journal on a bookstore. I bought it since I was familiar with Paul’s work and I noticed the references he made to his “I Can Make You Thin” book and CD. So I ordered it, and after reading the book and listening the CD I can tell you the results.
Losing the 40 extra pounds (and some more) was only the begining. What I most loved of that method was that I didn’t have to say no to any of my favorite foods in any part of the program. I still eat when I want, I eat what I like and I do it consciously so I can really feel the taste of what I’m eating. I learned that I was eating some food that wasn’t really as delightful as I assumed. I also learned why dieting didn’t help me to lose weight.
Furthermore, I went back to the dojo and the gym, and my physical condition is on the fast track again. I feel and look energized and younger, and I’ve been able to teach the 4 Golden Rules to some of my friends with a lot of success.
4 Stars Tapping For Weight Loss - Why It May Work For You
Paul is right on. Diet’s are our enemy. They are a permanent solution for only a small percentage of the population.
Why? Because weight is far more than what you are eating, it’s more about what is prompting you to eat. It has to do with your stress level, your suppressed emotions, your self-esteem, and how you feel about your body. Until the subconscious issues are resolved, you will ride the weight-loss roller coaster.
The guidelines and information Paul gives you in his book are not new, but they are presented in a logical easy to follow format. They are designed to help you begin to focus on your eating habits. He gives you guidelines to help you recognize when you are eating because you need nutrition and when your hunger feeling is prompted by your emotions.
He has also included a hypnosis CD. And YES, hypnosis does work. Why? Because it’s the quickest and most effective way to access your subconscious mind where you can find and resolve the reasons behind your overeating. As a hypnotherapist, I have seen clients literally change overnight after discovering and releasing their emotional triggers.
The “tapping technique” in his book is based on tapping on specific points on the body that correspond to meridians used in Chinese medicine and was developed by American Psychologist, Roger Callahan who named the treatment “Thought Field Therapy.” There is no scientific evidence that TFT is effective, and the American Psychological Association has stated that TFT “lacks a scientific basis”. The evidence adduced in support of TFT by Callahan and other proponents comes from uncontrolled case reports that were not peer reviewed. Because of the lack of controlled studies psychologists discredit any claims of success by Callahan.
However, Gary Craig, who trained with Callahan in the 1990’s, created EFT, a simplification and improvement of Callahan’s TFT techniques. The theory behind EFT, based on an ancient theory of acupuncture, is that negative emotions are caused by disturbances in the body’s energy field and that tapping on the meridians while thinking of a negative emotion or event alters the body’s energy field, restoring it to “balance”. EFT has been the subject of three peer-reviewed publications as of 2007, one of which concluded that the findings were largely consistent with the hypothesis of the study.
The difference between EFT and TFT is found in the application. In TFT, a specific sequence of tapping points (known as an algorithm) is used for a particular problem. The sequence is determined using muscle testing. In EFT, the sequence of tapping points is deemed to be unimportant, and therefore individual algorithms are not required for different problems. Instead, a comprehensive algorithm is used for all problems.
Critics of the procedures label them as pseudoscience and reference a study in 2003 that shows that EFT, a modeling treatment, and a placebo all produced a significant decrease in anxiety and fear over a control group. An article in the Guardian suggested that “the act of tapping parts of the body in a complicated sequence acts as a distraction, and therefore can appear to alleviate the root distress. The therapist repeats a reminder phrase every few seconds throughout the treatment, to draw the client’s attention back to the problem.”
I haven’t used it myself, so I can’t personally comment on its effectiveness; however, I know a number of Hypnotherapists who do use it and there does seem to be evidence (though not meeting the requirements for validation) that both techniques have relieved psychological and physical conditions.

4 Stars I can make you thin ????
Brief, to the point, interesting read… have not had the opportunity to put this into practice,,but, somehow it makes sense to me … love, love, love the CD, meditation tape, very relaxing.
5 Stars Do yourself a favor
If you’re reading these reviews, what you really want to know is: does it work? YES!!!! Buy it, read it, do it. Listen to the CD religiously. Watch the pounds melt away and enjoy the change in your life. You’ve been looking and waiting for a magic pill, well the magic is here, just not in the form of a pill.
I’m a 60 year old mex-am. raised on the border on a high fat diet, yet I was thin (5.0 ft. & 98 lbs) until I hit 40. A traumatic experience threw me into a depression and I steadily gained (and lost and gained through diets) weight until I hit a high of 144. Last year at this time I had managed to start the year at 134. The weight gain made me even more depressed and I was in a vicious cycle. Then around this time last year I heard a commercial announcing McKenna’s upcoming T.V. show. I was desperate for change and thought it sounded too good to be true, so I googled McKenna and wound up on the Amazon site in the U.K. and read a ton of reviews just like this one. Sounded good. Then I saw the T.V. show. It made sense. But what really struck me were the PEOPLE doing the testimonials. Not all had reached their goal weight yet, and yet there was a radiance that they all exuded that made me jealous. These were no teary eyed testimonials as I’m used to seeing with say Richard Simmons or any of the other lose weight infomercials. These were happy people, not hyper, not hysterical, just calm, happy in their skin, with an “all’s right in the world” attitude. There was no dichotomy of the fat me and the thin me, or the old me and the new me. It was just that’s where I started, here’s where I am. For me this has been the real gold in Paul’s system and losing weight is just the cherry on the cake. He enables you to love yourself once more, right now, right where you are, not tomorrow when you “lose the weight” as a type of self reward.
So I spent about 60 dollars to get the book w/CD from the U.K. the last day of March of last year (2008). It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It was money well spent. I’m now at 120 lbs, that’s 14 lbs lighter than last year at this time, but I no longer obsess about the weight. I know I’m losing and it’s on auto pilot now. I can lose faster if I follow rule #1 more religiously, that’s the hard one for me. You see, rule #1 says: Eat when you’re hungry. But that’s not permission, it’s a command. In other words, don’t let yourself get ravenous, because then you lose all control. After decades of skipping meals and starving myself, it’s hard to make that a priority. But when I do, I lose faster. I might as well tell you that rule #3 is also hard. It says: when you eat, do nothing else but eat. I’m used to eating at the computer, in front of the t.v. and while I’m on the phone. BUT if YOU follow his rules to the letter, YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT. And the best part for me, is that I’ve made peace with me. I can love myself again just as I am, right here, right now. And that attracts positive people like flies to honey. You can pick me out in a crowd, because I’m the one that radiates joy and confidence. Isn’t that worth 15 bucks? (for me, it was worth the 60)
P.S. re: the one star rating on this book. If you read the review, you’ll see that the person never even tried Paul’s method. Yep, if you don’t try it, it’s absolutely not going to work for you.
4 Stars useful and thought changing
I have found the cd included with this product useful and have already noticed changes in my eating patterns.
The book has some good relevant points and I have also found them useful. I recommend this book to those people who like the idea of reprogramming their minds for healthy eating habits.
